Figurative Work

This gallery contains depictions of the nude human form. If nudity is something that you find upsetting or objectionable, use this link to return to the homepage and explore other aspects of the website. If you are ready to view the work, scroll down to engage with the individual project pages.

It can be difficult to recognize one’s own patterns. Before compiling this online portfolio, I had thought that the discrete projects that comprise my body of figurative work were each vastly different, distinctly set apart from each other. Seeing them here in one place, the common threads emerge: use of an improvised stage, fabrics in varying textures and weaves, the human form (of course!), and often a text-based reference that serves as a starting point for the work.

The projects explore distinct themes, some more or less successful in their execution. Topics vary, though each project includes the exploration of some aspect of the human experience. The number of images presented for each project is intentionally small. These are meant to be more of a project summary, or thumbnail sketch, than a full presentation of each project’s entirety.

Dates for projects are included on the individual project pages. The majority of the projects are still image photography, with the exception of one video (which is presented here with still image photography). Only the most recent project was photographed using digital capture. The remaining projects were all analog film captures.
